Dolomite Mountains, Italy
June/July, 2001
Kris and I spent 3 weeks climbing and relaxing in the Dolomite Mountains of Italy.
We have a full section of pages dedicated to the trip, and we are still updating this
material. However, the material interesting to climbers is well represented, and
I can finally unveil it. You have two choices: you can read
the whole thing, or you can
read sections specifically related to climbing. For that, I have the following set
of links.
-
Cinque Torre climb - this
describes our climb of Torre Grande's West Summit on the "via Delle Guide" route.
-
Torre Lusy climb - the
next day we climbed Torre Lusy, and made some friends.
-
Torre Piccola climb -
A few days later, we went on the hardest climb of the trip: the smaller of the
Falzarego Towers, Torre Piccola.
-
Torre Wundt climb -
We definitely needed a break after Torre Piccola! We came back to the mountains for
an amazing climb of Torre Wundt.
-
Col Rosa and Torre Barancio
- A very full day, starting with a pre-dawn via ferrata trip up Col Rosa, and
ending with a climb of Torre Inglese and Torre Barancio. Enjoy!
-
Tofana di Rozes -
Steve and Sarah arrived from the states. Steve and I climbed the via ferrata Lipella
on Tofana di Rozes. High altitude adventure!
-
Monte Averau climb -
Steve and I climb the Southwest Face of Monte Averau. Thrills! Chills!
We really enjoyed our trip to Italy, and plan on going back as often as possible. There
is really nothing bad to say about the climbing, the rock, the people, the prices.
Ciao!
