Sitkum Spire on Glacier Peak

My first hikes in Washington were in the dark and damp valleys of the Sauk and Stillaguamish Rivers. I'd never see anyone on these occasions, and the misty forested slopes had a lonely, forgotten feeling. The peaks around the abandoned village of Monte Cristo are low but rugged, and keep drawing me back. Further east, the wilderness DaKobed Range stretches in a glaciated chain south of Glacier Peak. Still further, the Entiat and Chelan Ranges feature a more continental climate, often in sun while the west is socked in cloud.

I define this region to include Cascade peaks coterminus with Glacier Peak, south to Highway 2. Trips are arranged in alphabetical order by mountain and route.
