Friends: Only God!
Location: Kinport Peak
Elevation gain: 780m = 780m

I drove down to Pocatello and parked at the City Creek trailhead at about 4820 feet. I had tennis shoes and spikes in the backpack, which eventually came in handy. I travelled a few miles on nice trail up the creek, then continued because I didn't like the look of the road I'd have to follow for the normal way. It was covered in tiring snow! I followed the trail another half mile or so until seeing an elk trail that went straight up slope, north and entered a minor drainage coming down from the peak. I followed this trail, sometimes in tedious snow until it met the road I'd rejected before, now at about 6500 feet. I turned left (east), to descend about 50 feet until bare slopes allowed me to climb up to the Northeast Ridge of the peak at about 6900 feet. I followed this to the top, taking refuge from the wind for a bit in a little open antechamber to a radio building. I made sure to tag both summits.

Really fun! Pocatello seems like a great town, the way it is nestled between two mountains. I hear there is rock climbing downtown as well!

2570 feet up/down, 9 miles round trip.
